Niki Hildebrand on display at @ theArtWorks™ Wilmington North Carolina . Opens March 2nd and runs March 2nd to May 15th.
Hildebrand just returned from an artist residency in the mountains and made 400 glass leaves which she has now melded into an installation titled "Dreams of the Lungs of the Earth". This is shown along with her other art.
Hildebrand\\'s work spans ideas of memory, transience, collective consciousness of humans and the earth. Thoughts of energy, beliefs and existence flowing through, of what we don\\'t see and the connections of them. Engaged with the human condition and often the human body, her work captures sensory parts of existence, creating a play between the physical presence of solid visuals and the awareness of the nonphysical indefinable matter.
Hildebrand graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design and the Rhode Island School of Design. She has shown in exhibitions internationally and sold in England, Ireland, Sweden, New Zealand and United States.
Hildebrand received grants and awards, including the WH Mellon Foundation Grant as well as funding and scholarships to the Pilchuck School of Glass and Penland School of Crafts. She has taught art at UNC, Cameron Art Museum and assisted at Rhode Island School of Design and Penland School of Crafts.
