theArtWorks™

theArtWorks™ houses  a 7K square foot gallery, artists studios, coffee shop, wifi, and more.  The gallery gives artists a place to work their work, the community an event venue.  Studios include workspace, individual galleries and shop.  Meeting and classrooms are also available. And of course, the coffee shop and wifi enhances space for conversations, meetings, and social interaction.

Confluence-Connections in Fiber

National juried fiber art show at theArtWorks™ 200 Willard St,  Wilmington, NC from June 2nd through June 25th.

Opening reception on Friday June 2nd, and a Fourth Friday Gallery Walk event on Friday June 23rd.

“Confluence-Connections in Fiber '' is a fiber art show with works from compelling, award winning fiber artists from around the country; Patricia Turner, Penny Mateer, Beverly Smith, Susan Lenz Dingman,  J. Bruce Wilcox,  Richard Lunz, Mary Mazziotti, Michele Jaquis, R'hea Roland-Singer, Robin Lynn Haller, and others.

Patricia Turner of Sarasota Florida will be here to discuss her work with our guests on June 2nd, the opening night. Turner uses her fiber art to call attention to tough and grim subject matter such as lynchings and racism.

Beverly Smith of Charlotte NC makes art quilts and states, "It is a characteristic of my work to focus on themes from the Antebellum South that address past taboos and controversial issues".

Mary Mazziotti of Pittsburgh states, "I make artwork, often textile based, on the frailty of Life and the inevitably Death. This genre is called memento mori…"

Robin Lynn Haller,an associate professor in the Textile Desiggn Program at East Carolina University, is a master weaver that uses the latest technology combined with hand dyed fibers to create remarkable works. She has exhibited nationally and internationally and has won multiple awards including two-timeBest of Show Awarrd in Fiber Celebration, Colorado.

J. Bruce Wilcox of Denver Colorado creates abstract fiber works. "I am not a quilter. I do not make quilts. I do not think like a quilter."

 "Unlike representational art, abstract art reflects back a unique experience for each viewer."
